Kramer nightswan question

Post by A_L2000 » Sat Nov 18, 2023 6:34 pm

Hey guys, I have the opportunity to pickup an original nightswan for what seems to be a too good to be true price, it seems a little sketchy but the seller has good reviews it had been modified with emgs I'm not sure if he still has the original pickups with it, I don't know nightswans good enough to tell if this is a usdm or jdm nightswan or if it's even real. He claims it's from 1986 but I'm not sure if they were made in 1986. Any information on it is greatly appreciated ImageImageImageImage

Looks legitimate blue sparkle but not all original. The electrics may have been replaced along with the pickups - you'd need to source the Full Shred and JB. You can even get the later trem spaced ones (will have a SD logo on them).

Get better pics e.g. the back of the tuners should be Schaller W Germany.

Yes, the pot has been replaced along with the pickups, I already have the full shred from the 80s for it. I am going to order a jb for it, I just don't know if I should get a neck jb or a bridge jb, all the jbj's that I've found are bridge pickups the Floyd rose has been swapped with a kramer branded floyd but I'm not sure if I'm gonna put an ofr in it. I ended up picking it up today it was 2500$(CAD) I just couldn't pass it up

I would replace the tremolo right away.
The Kramer logo trem were cheap crap from the 2000's Music Yo era. They are just absolute junk. Worse than a Special. The seller sucks for not including an Original era Floyd Rose for that price. JMO.
Maybe selling the EMG's will help cover the price of an Original Floyd Rose. I wouldn't play the guitar unless it had one.

Just some personal thoughts.
The EMG's are not that bad for certain music. All original JB pickups were bridge pickups. Since a Nightswan has a bridge and middle pickup route. They used the JB in the middle position. JMO, but I love the sound of a JB in the middle position.
Getting a Trembucker Full Shred TB10 in the bridge position is crucial. They just sound exponentially better then the original SH10. You will also need a 500k pot.

I'm going to use the full shred that I already have for it, I plan on putting the emgs in a jackson that I have and I'll probably end up selling the jackson it should cover the cost of the jb and the ofr, I'm just debating whether I should get a brand new ofr or if I should find one from the 80s, I'd like to use all Era correct parts but I'm not sure if I'm better off just buying a new ofr. I will absolutely be putting in a 500k pot
