Seafoam body

Post by RoidRage » Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:47 pm

Help identifying the body on this. Late 80’s Pacer deluxe maybe? Ebony neck? Neckplate seems aftermarket, is 1 1/4 anodized black and completely blank. No logo’s. The holes on the neck and body are 1 3/8. Someone had it routed for the pick guard and Floyd Rose Pro.

Can you take a pic of the side view of the treble side of the neck pocket? It's hard to tell a Deluxe from an F-3000 otherwise, but it's looking like one of the two, unless someone made a decent copy and wrote the sharpie stuff on their own lol.

Also sure that the board is ebony? I would have guessed dark rosewood with those grain lines, but I could definitely be wrong too.

Looks like a Deluxe to me.

Could add the codes to the list:

Make you what the f' was going on with that pickup route. Butchered the body because the pickguard was a bad fit.

My guess would be fire sale DLX body, and I say that based on the mishmash of parts plus the lack of shielding paint in the control cavity. I'm assuming it would have the shielding paint if it had left the factory as a complete. I've got a few fire sale DLX bodies and they look exactly like that except without the Michelangelo custom routing.

It just looks to me like maybe the legs were too long on the JB they wanted to install, so somebody needed to remove wood for that and the router got away from them a little bit?

Firstly, I vary much appreciate you guys and this forum for everything you do over the years. Thank you.
The ebony was more of a question than my opinion. I’m just speculating,I am no wood expert. It’s a fleabay pick 4 years ago that I am finally getting around to :bang . The back is vary defined to me for a pacer body, but most of what I know is just research. This would be my first pacer.
So fire-sale mutt at the least, or could the body and neck be a pair?

Still a little hard for me to determine based upon the neck pocket (I think D is good at recognizing these?). I'm leaning pacer though.

Fwiw, is it possible that the trem recess was cut later or maybe altered? One of the corners looks more rounded than the others.

Overall neck and body look really nice though! :headbang
