NGD '70's reissue

Post by mkgearhead » Mon Mar 11, 2019 5:41 pm

Last week I traded my Fender Cabronita Tele for this 2012 Fender Classic Series '70s Strat. A previous owner replaced the bridge pickup with a Dimarzio D Activator. They did a good job routing it out for the humbucker. When I got it home and plugged it in, it was obvious that the bridge/middle position was out of phase. I popped it open and switched the hot/ground wires on the humbucker and all was well. While it was apart I replaced the white pickup covers and knobs with black ones. And just because I can't leave anything alone I replaced the pickups with a pair of unknown alnicos and an early '80s Dimarzio HS-3 in the bridge. Still not being satisfied, I replaced these pickups with a set of River "Colorado" pickups. I think I'll leave it alone and just play it now. Here are some pics of its evolution since I got it on Friday.

Looks great :headbang I prefer the look in the last pic.

The pups that Kinman designed for me may be of interest to you, those look like single coils but have fat humbucker tone:

Otherwise their Woodstock set is the nicest set of high-ouput single coils I ever played.

Good looking fiddle! :thumbs
But let's face it, someone buys a Kramer b/c it has a Floyd.

I'd give it the Fast Eddie look with a brass SSH pickguard and cream pickups.
