Vaccaro X-Ray

I saw this Vaccaro come for sale and put an offer in which got accepted. It’s a crazy Kool guitar. Does anyone else have a 1990s Vaccaro? An all aluminum neck with a flame maple cap and ebenol fretboard. I really like the ebenol feel of my Kramer Duke guitar and this one doesn’t disappoint either. It’s loud and sustains incredibly. I think the body is alder, and it’s super resonant. Not sure if I love the Rio Grande pickups and the pickguard, so I might do something to change that up. But for now it’s a fun guitar that plays beautifully. It’s a pretty chunky neck, like that of an 83’ Beak Kramer.

You know I'm a big lumie fan, but I've never played one of the Vaccaro versions.


I have one of the Vacarro-era regular wood-necked Pacer-style guitars that I bought in NOS pieces that had escaped from the Gibson vault in Nashville, and I've got all of it, but so far it remains stuck in the project queue to be assembled and set up.

I think I’ll get creative and get a new pickguard and pickups for this one. It’s great as-is, the Rio Grande pickups are pretty sweet, I’ll keep them. Probably going to put some Lindy Fralins in. It’s a totally unique guitar and it’s awesome. Too bad they never really caught on and there were more out there available.

Anyone know how many Vaccaro’s are out there?
