Richard Benson passed on May 10th 2022. I know that early on he was able to at least play some but most know him from the outrageousness later on in his life lol.

I'm pretty sure he did his best to make it as a guitarist but that whole thing never materialized... but where normal folks would quit and go pick another career path he decided to play it up and become a whole character of over the top antics.
He used to play shows where you could throw stuff at him lol, like they tarped off the stage and it was sorta like reverse Gallagher. He would play bad on purpose doing all manner of epic crowd insults in italian while he was pelted with eggs. might be the most european thing i ever heard of.

Never heard of him before this thread but he seemed pretty smart, finding his own unique gimmick.
It was a common thing for mentally challenged individuals to come into the stores on a regular basis to make a ton of noise, and damage instruments. I have so many stories.
I can't tell you how many times I wish I could have thrown stuff at them. LOL.
We were held hostage by customer complaints. All they had to do is complain about you and you could get fired.
Now people wonder why the guitars are all F'd up at G.C.? Maybe because "The lunatic is on the grass", and they are allowed to do whatever they want to.

As someone with the early stages of arthritis in my hands and advanced arthritis in my spine I feel his pain.
