This was a painful ass build lemme tell you what; had so many issues with the paint, and bleedthru, and orange peel... the fact that it looks as good as it does now is a miracle!

This guy here was that old red tiger build i did ages ago with a b.c rich stiii i found in pieces at a yard sale kr flea market. Never liked how it turned out, so i finally did something with it.

Im looking out for a maple nanner neck and possibly a floyd, because holy hell is this wilkinson just a pain in the ass!

Got a new roller nut hoping itd help with the issues i previously had with the trem but it didnt help at all.

For whatever reason, every time you touch the trem, even just a slight dive, the g string will go sharp (and sometimes so do the other 2 high strings), until you bend them. If you touch the bar, then tune to the correct pitch after, as soon as you bend a string its now completly out of tune as well. No amount of pencil graphite seems to help make this problem go away, and ive exhausted all means of figuring out why its doing this.

Also i found a dead fret i gotta take care of now too after finally setting her up; ooo boy imma make this work even if it kills me

Wilkinson plus locking tuners and roller/graphtech nut works fine when you have straight string pull over the nut, but it's hard to make it work with that angled headstock. I'm afraid you will have to use a locking trem after all.

Looks good though :thumbs

Totally agree with xxx. Put a locking nut on there. Even with the best roller string tree you will most likely have problems with that headstock angle.

Jarrod, my .02 is to keep that BC Rich neck. You can remove that nut and make a bit of a shelf like Greg (sixstring) did with his Beretta special. Then of course slap a locking nut on it. I just think the head stock is too cool to replace with something else. An R3 NUT works perfectly on a fingerboard of that thickness BTW. -Steve
I don't usually find a use for this smiley :flipa , but I like so there you have it.

The only issue is i really sont want to plug up some holes and redrill for a floyd after all this painful paintwork :roll

I also dont have many guitars with non-locking tuners, so the Wilky is a nice trem for something a little different. I thought the roller nut would help, but honestly it still makes that dreaded "binding noise", althought i cannot physically see the string getting caught anywhere. Ive tried this with and without the string trees but the problem persists with or without.

I do love this neck too, but I wish it was maple. The headatock is awesome and it plays well. Who knows, ill likely end up keeping it. Just gotta fix that dead fret... it frets out from 15-17 which is incredibly irratatinf since im always up there noodling away :roll

Seems like this is a common problem with the Wilky though from what ive seen, but I honestly cant figure out the base issue. Its so strange.

Did you remove a bit of the fret board to install the roller nut?
To install a lock nut now, there would be a gap.
I'd recommend trying a behind the nut string lock.
Looks good otherwise. :thumbs
But let's face it, someone buys a Kramer b/c it has a Floyd.

I know that was a question directed at Jarrod, but is the proper installation of a roller nut actually removing material towards the 1st fret? (I did not know that) Luckily I have yet to put one on any of my guitars, as that would have been an intonation/tuning fiasco. :alien

Indeed it is.
Many vids in the install.
