interesting discovery

Post by AAEA » Wed Dec 20, 2023 8:36 pm

So I've been talking to a former ESP employee who used to work with them around the time Kramer was having them produce guitars and parts.

He said that when kramer USA had shut down and the contract went poof they still had all these blanks and what have ya.

well unlike Kramer having to do a fire sale in the bankruptcy the ESP side was just left holding the bag. I guess as it turns out kramer would only cut a check on delivery of the items to the USA side...

they had a whole lot of left overs. ESP did not want to just fire sale. ESP also did not want to produce an ESP branded Guitar using the Kramer blanks.

they spun off a brand called ZEP.

Zep was pretty much ESP's offshoot to sell off stuff in completed guitars from parts of contracts that had ended. you'll see all manner of randomness produced by ZEP.

some of the earliest ones are actually Kramer Amercian series parts. Jolana purchased parts from the NJ side of things dirt cheap. ESP simply spun off and released under its own brand lol.

I think ESP spun the parts off into their own brand to pad them against any actions against them for making these.

check this one out... Kramer Pacer imp body.

I can dig. The white and maple neck on the cherry flooring looks quite nice.
I don't usually find a use for this smiley :flipa , but I like so there you have it.

Yep, that is correct. We've seen and discussed them a couple times on the old place and here as well.
