Costs would be #1, saves time in the production. Also supposedly the nut area will be more stable when not drilled through. Not an issue for necks with the volute, but could be an issue for thinner necks with less wood there.
Better answer. Thanks XXX and sorry RatDog. I gotta head ache and not responding or thinking clearly at this moment.

Done with the frets. Every time I do Stainless Steel frets I remember why I charge so much to do the job. The end result is great but it takes a lot of work. Just have to touch up a few small things. Next thing to do is to install some better hardware. I need to source a string retainer if anyone want to donate one.
These frets should last a very, very long time.

I'll send you a string retainer. I can send it out today or Monday if you PM me a reminder with your address.

Just make sure you actually have strings on the guitar when you position the string retainer for mounting so that neither of the string retainer mounting screws are touching any of the the guitar strings. You don't need the D and G on there, but you need the other four.
I'm not saying you would, but I've seen a whole lot of people fuck that up.

Thanks D. No rush on sending that. You can send it with the body. I know what you mean about spacing. I also hate it when the mounting screws for the retainer get in the way of any of those strings.

Unfortunately, it's still going to be a while for the paint despite my best efforts. There was some movement on that front this week, however, so I'm hoping I'll be able to provide an update by early next week.

Thinking it through (post-coffee), I guess you'd need the guitar to be assembled in order to line it up with strings installed (duh, doc), so I'll just send the retainer along with all the rest of it.

...unless somebody else has a spare lying around and wants to get in on the Kapybara action.

The new frets look killer, BTW!

I just got to wondering what strings are going on this…surely we’re not sending it out with elixirs or slinky’s?

Just curious I got several sets of benders if needed.

d'addario EXL130s are all i use

tried a lot of different strings. got recommended curt mangan strings a lot by snobs, but they were a big letdown in comparison. the exl130s are perfect. they last forever too i am playing for hours a day and change my strings waaaayyyy less frequently than i should... like once every couple months maybe.
