Does each have a designated strap or just for the photo? I never really considered that approach. Kind of cool!

The strap on my aged white Focus 1000 came with it when I bought it brand new. All the others I found pre-owned over the decades. I just remember the tunings but strap coding guitars might be a thing. I have seen guitarists put a piece of tape on the back of the guitar with the tuning.

This is going to end up with stripes on it eventually, 1982 style.

Focus 3000 body, Duffy neck, Takeuchi tremolo and will have a VEH humbucker. Besides the body it's stuff I had around.

That’s a great looking neck! Can’t wait to see it when it’s all striped up! I’ve had the itch recently to try an HFT stripe job on a Focus 1000 body I’ve had laying around for years.

Focus 4000 has always seemed to be another oddball in the series. The neckplate seems to indicate an ESP origin, but both the cavity shape and the headstock are unique.. The cavity cover resembles Charvel, but not exact.

I have one of the earliest ones, when it was V shaped… so can’t say for certain. But looking at the same one you are, I think this is the most telling picture…

That nut overhang lines up exactly with the ESP beaks of the time. Also the fretboard thickness, the way the heel looks, even the tint of the maple on the neck. So despite the headstock shape, I do think it’s an ESP neck.

Also the pickups look like the ones in most Foci… so my thinking is that ESP built them.

Great sleuthing! That makes the case for sure, all hallmarks of an ESP build. Regarding the wacky cover shape, perhaps ESP simply reused the CNC model / template for another V guitar they were already making...

That's probably it. Would be interesting to go back and look at other stuff ESP was doing at the time.
