Focus 6000 body question

Post by scole » Wed Sep 19, 2018 11:10 am

Can anyone tell me what the hope spacing is for the three pickup switches on a Focus 6000 body like this one? I'm considering one of these bodies for my upcoming project in which I want to add a Sustainiac pickup system. That system uses two switches which require a 1" spacing for the switch holes.

Thanks!
Steve

That´d be the easiest and fastest fix with a drill :thumbs .
Practice cures most tone issues.

Focus 6000 body question

This is a Focus 6000, appears to be identical to the one in the link you provided. The spacing of the switch holes seems slightly inconsistent. The distance between the first and second switches is 21mm or about .825" measured center-to-center. The distance between the second and third switches is 20mm or about .8" on center. It could be that the holes are slightly bigger than the switch shafts and there was some play when they tightened them down. In any case, smaller than what you are seeking.

You're not thinking about buying the one in the link, are you? Don't pay that much for a Focus 6000. You can have the one in this pic for $300 plus shipping if you want it. The neck is a really nice one, and everything on the guitar is solid and works great.

I don't mean for every post to get hijacked with me trying to sell some shit, I just have stuff available and it would seem dumb for me to sit back and watch people pay more than they need to while buying elsewhere.

Focus 6000 body question

Doc,

Thanks. Those were the specifics I was interested in. I'm not looking to buy that listing I linked to; it just happened to be the first one I could find that showed the body & control layout of a body I was considering buying. I'm *STILL* waiting for a seller on Reverb to send me the disassembled Kramer I bought from him.

I think I'll be waiting until I actually get my Reverb purchase to decide if I use that body or look for another one. Either way, I know I have some work to do for what I have in mind.

Thanks!
Steve

Glad to help out.
I've got other Pacer Custom I bodies in my workshop, as well as other all-wood vintage Kramer import bodies with that switch configuration. I'll measure all of them to see if the spacings are any different, but they appear the same or similar just eyeballing it. Getting ready now to go to an A's baseball game, but when I return I'll check those other bodies to see if any offer the spacing you seek. If they do, then maybe we can trade to save you needing to drill.

Real quick I checked a USA PCI and also an all-wood Korean striker body in same config, and the spacing between switches always is 20mm on center.
