Drag me screaming into the Present.

Post by SWANTECH » Tue Mar 20, 2018 8:55 pm

I posted this on another forum. I thought you folks would like it.
My wife and I decided to upgrade our ancient phones. She had an I phone 5, I had an I phone 4.
We are now learning to use the new Galaxy S9.
I believe the S stands for Skynet, and now they own my soul, and infected my brain. LOL.
It was about time. My phone was so old it could barley function.
My friend told me to donate it to the Smithsonian Museum. LOL.
I decided to come up with my own, Top 10 reasons you know your phone is out dated!

#10.) My phone is so old. It uses vacuum tubes.

#9.) My phone is so old. I have a 2 digit phone number.

#8.) MY phone is so old. My network provider is Sputnik.

#7.) My phone is so old. It came with a booth for a case.

#6.) MY phone is so old. I have to ask for the operator to connect my calls, and I know her by name.

#5.) My phone is so old. I have to wind it up to charge it.

#4.) My phone is so old. I can't text, only telegraph people.

#3.) My phone is so old. Instead of ear buds, it came with a cup and some string.

#2.) My phone is so old. My ring tone was generated by a steam whistle.

AND.....

#1.) My phone is so old. I have Alexander Graham Bell on speed dial.

There you have it. Drag me screaming into the present.

Jeez people, buy some decent iPhones. An iPhone is perfect for older folks because of its ease of use.

That might be OT but:

Besides that, I wanted a Mac for my whole life. When I could finally afford one in March of 2009 I went for an iMac. It served me well up until last summer when a really good offer on the latest 27'' model appeared. In the same 8 years before my first Mac I went through 3 shitty Windows lap tops. I could have done another three years easily on the 2009 iMac.

In the meanwhile the whole family is on iPads, MacBook Airs and iPhones. If you´re not a tekkie the ease of use is unbeatable. Never had a problem with any of it (Disclaimer: I´m an AM in CCM-Solutions-Providing and have to use Windows machine for some work related stuff - but we have a "bring your own device policy"). shrug

I´m not an Apple fanboy and bide my time until I can lay my hands on some decent used stuff and wouldn´t camp in front of a store, but I wouldn´t touch a Samsung phone. My mom bought some android pos three years ago - and it just sucked big time. When she finally bought a 5 SE her life became a lot easier.

:whistle

Android, Apple & Windows suck equally. :bs toliet
I use all three platforms on a daily basis. One usually performs something better than the others during a given task.
Just boils down to which you can tolerate more.
But let's face it, someone buys a Kramer b/c it has a Floyd.

I'm forced to use iphone at work and I absolutely hate it. The user interface is the stupidest thing ever, the absolute opposite of intuitive.

In private I'm still using Galaxy S4 and regarding the user interface, it's much better in every thinkable way. On the other side I hate the mandatory google apps, profiling etc. I also still have a Galaxy S1 which still works fine, with the original battery to boot. Custom ROM without any google nonsense on it.

Recently I was thinking about reactivating my good old Motorola Razr without all the web-based nonsense, actually I only need a phone for telephone calls and text messages anyway.

Used to have both of those. Recently an archeologist found one and believe it or not, the battery charge was one bar less then 100%, which was considered impossible before ;)

I remember the days of old age when you could easily go on a vacation and not taking the charger with you *sigh*.

I have an iPhone for personal use, and an Android for work. The iPhone blows the doors off of the Android. I hate the Android for anything other than programming it. It's so bad, and highly insecure, that they completely removed the Android from the company. I'm one of a handful that still has one, only because of programming ease (programming the iPhone needs a Mac, we're a windows shop).

When my company upgrades to the 7, I might be tempted to finally trade the Android for one.
