Good luck. I feel for you. Having been in court more than I should, I can tell you it's a bitch. A judgement against someone is nothing more than a piece of paper. It is not a guarantee that you will get a single dollar. It just states that the judge, city, or state sides with you. Getting the money is a whole different ball game. Been there, tried to do that. You are usually just spending good money to chase bad money. I have tens of thousands of dollars worth of judgements against a couple people. All it does is piss me off to think about it. I finally gave up, and tried not to think about it. Funny, you can have a person that owes you a shit ton of dough, but won't pay it, and you see their facebook page where they're showing off a new boat, motorcycle, or car, lol.

There used to be a show called Holmes on Homes, which dealt with a ton of contractors that routinely screwed people, and were never held liable.

I wish you the best. Hopefully your case is the exception, not the norm.

UPDATE! WE WON!
Sorry just forgot about this thread.

From my lawyer a week ago.

Attached please find a copy of the Opinion and Order granting our motion to strike and entry of default entered with the court yesterday. We are required by court rule to wait 21 days to allow Defendant time to file any motions for reconsideration. If nothing is filed within the 21 days, our office will file a Motion for Damages in order to determine a dollar amount on the Judgment.

In layman's terms.
The Judge rules in favor of my lawyers motion that was filed Jan 29, 2018. To grant us a default judgement. On the grounds that the defendants responce to our lawsuit was not legally acceptable, for many reasons.
The defendants responce to our lawsuit was considered an admission of guilt in the courts eyes. (You CAN NOT respond to a lawsuit by basically saying FU/Prove it). That is kind of what they did. Not acceptable in the state of Michigan.
The defendents have 21 days to appeal the judges ruling.

NOT LIKELY.

After 21 days. My lawyer will submit a motion for damages.
Then we go after them, and their insurance company to recover the dollar amount the judge awards.

I may also be able to have the county prosecuter file criminal fraud charges against them.

On to the next step.
Ruling on damage amount. Then collection. There are a lot of ways to collect.
I can make it as hard as they want me to. Or. They can just pay me and be done with it.
