Guitar Cases....

Post by RBT » Thu Feb 02, 2017 12:55 pm

Hello All, in depth discussions about cases for your guitars have been rare here, they normally come with the guitar you buy, and are key to keeping your investment safe during those critical times of traveling, no matter what type of guitar it will house.

Example: You buy a gitt (with no case), with a really angled headstock, and add a reverse style in the mix....you really need to be careful, an improper case will be your worst enemy in this type of situation, and cause headstock damage to your prize.

I'm facing this problem at the moment, does enyone know what after market case can handle these radical neck types? I cant afford a custom case, and want to keep the cost under $200.00.

I dont have a picture of it to post (I have'nt received it yet)...
But it's very "Swanish" in style and scale.

Welcome all ideas enyone has to offer.
Thanks Guys!

I bought a case that I thought looked just like the Kramer cases only to discover it is slightly shallower and a tilt headstock won't fit.

Yes, that is the problem I'm facing now...it needes to be a deep case (maybe 3 inches)so these headstocks dont actually touch the case itself.....I think, but not sure. Thank You for your comment brother.

Jackson do a Dinky/Soloist case for around $120 that may be worth trying out. It looks like it'll take reverse headstocks. The big stores all seem to list it.

May have gotten a solution...but not really sure yet. Please keep your thoughts coming...even if I have found a solution, it will help other brothers that find themselves in this situation!

I also think most Jackson/Charvel/B.C. Rich cases should do fine for that type of axes, unless they're molded to fit the exact body shape of their given model.

I'd ask several case manufacturers directly via e-mail, they can tell you which one works for your axe. They built most of the original cases after all.

I have a Gary Kramer with a pointy and bought a Gator XL (extra long) case for it and it should support a reverse Kramer pointy with no probs. The headstock portion of the case is mirrored w/a deeper V shaped cut out, so what fits one way should fit the other. The regular length case was to short for my GKG Custom. I cant guarantee it will work for your particular guitar but it is a good candidate to check out. Plus the gator cases are pretty great quality. :)
