Needs advice on pedal board power supply

Post by Frunobulax » Thu Dec 28, 2017 4:06 am

I built me a pedal board and, since it's near to be achieved, I need an advice from bros who have knowlegdes on that kind of stuff for power supply. For temporary test I plugged a boss 2000w with a daisy chain but, as expected, it sounds horrible. :mrgreen
What would you use for power supplying such a thing? As you can notice on pic below, it is not high end and mainly diy stuff. I know it'll never sounds flawless but just want something acceptable regarding power supply noise being not above pedals signal.
Beforehands thanks for your help!

2A should do just fine. I used this one:

On the other hand, if they all have power now, it may as well be the routing... should be wah->compressor->od/distortion/preamp->delays/reverbs->modulation.

Why two wah-pedals and three distortion pedals???

Thanks Sergej :thumbs
All of them was powered through a since supply source with a daisy chain for distribution which I imagine is the problem here. I just have to find a power supply with segregated ports so it doesn't cause issue with ground loop.

Those disto are quite different:
DS1 is a "Full rock" mod (a kind of swiss knife of a disto)
YJM 308 is mode a dirty booster that I like with single coils
FC10 is my first pedal, it has a sentimental value to me

Got it. Just wondering because I am the "single sound" kind of guy, never needed more than one dist/preamp with a simple volume boost and a delay for solo parts.

As said, 2A is way enough for those pedals, maybe the connections in your 9V daisy-chain are damaged or too loose somewhere. Could also be that one of the pedals has some internal problem, try unplugging them one by one till you find the one that's maybe damaged or in the wrong place. Also too many pedals in a chain can eff up the tone, depending on cabling and placement.

Anyway, I can recommend the supply above, it's a well built unit for the money. Often to be found cheaply in ebay etc.
