I see some lawyers getting involved or they already have to let this go through. toliet
But let's face it, someone buys a Kramer b/c it has a Floyd.

EVH Striped Series 5150

The 2:20 mark is where Phil Mcknight talks about EVH Namm 2017 products. There was some chatter that this EVH version of the Kramer 5150 was not legit but a photoshop fake. Hence for posting the "Know Your Gear" video as a bit of proof in the pudding.

From what I have read and heard thus far, the EVH team spent a fair bit of time trying to get a patent on the original headstock design which resulted in producing a reasonable facsimile as Gibson/Kramer has the rights to it... even though their 84 headstock is a bit off.

Could be wrong on that as I am just a relayer of what I have gathered thus far.

What I am more curious about is what the neck will feel like. Will it be another digitally mapped neck like what Ernie Ball did when they produced his EBMM EVH series or just a simple EVH Strat-like neck with a banana inspired headstock.

The devil is in the details.

Either way I look forward to demoing one someday when it may arrive at my local L+McQ. Then again I am still waiting to demo a Beretta Vintage but those seem to be more of a special order up here on the Pacific West Coast.

Reading through specs this EVH version comes off more like a tribute than a replica. Then again so are the strat striped series. Looking forward to demoing one, but at the MSRP of $1900.00 US I will stick with ordering up Musikraft parts for a future build.

Too bad the EVH team could not utilize the original headstock.

Fakes from China are more accurate than that.

"The Striped Series 5150 has a basswood body identical to the original, with a bolt-on quartersawn maple neck featuring a comfortable modified “C” profile, hand-rubbed back finish and “hockey stick” headstock. The fast-playing compound-radius (12”-16”) maple fingerboard has 22 jumbo frets, black dot inlays and a convenient heel-mounted truss rod adjustment wheel."

Ok, the original didn't have a strat shaped basswood body so how is that identical to it? Neck is the wrong radius and profile, with the wrong headstock and truss rod adjustment.

With an asking price of $1,931.02 US, MSRP. I can only assume these will be produced in Mexico.

Since Gibby is ditching the Kramer brand completely and Charvel will issue Satchel´s sig this year, this is only another step ... shrug .
Practice cures most tone issues.
