Ok. I'll admit I'm an 80's Kramer guitar guy. Can you tell me which are most like the 80's Kramer's (playing and tone wise). I know the SM-1 was nowhere near my original Stagemaster.

I got no dog in the race, but Doctor Scary, for example, would have an informed opinion. (hope he chimes in) Those Candy Blue Barettas are the most tempting later models I've seen, but no idea on how these measure up.

I had a white Pacer Classic. The neck was awesome after a little tweaking. The body wood (to me) was sub-standard. But over all, it was a great guitar for the money. I have not ran across a (vintage) model yet, but hear great things about them. JMO

None of them are like the old Kramers, they're well made but simply different. Think current LTD/Schecter korean line, kinda feels like those.

IMO the closest call was the Yo '84, except for the thicker neck.

None. If you don´t compare them with some of the duds Kramer sometimes let slip out, that is. If you have a good one it blows everything Kribson put out (after the 2008 Reissue Imperial) clear outta the water. They are good entry level guitars, though.

I figured as much. After playing the SM-1 which was no where close to my original Stagemaster even after having a real one to copy to begin with. Oh well, Craigslist it is

Here's the thing. Everyone is constantly trying to compare new to old. Do we do this with cars? Computers? "This macbook pro is NOTHING like my old tandy. How can I mod it to be more like the tandy?' Said NO ONE EVER. My 2003 SVT Terminator Cobra is NOTHING like a 70 Boss 429. The '70 is of course a classic! But my cobra has WAY more power, more comfortable, easier on gas, has smoother suspension...etc. It's just a WAY better car. But people will still like the '70 more if we park next to each other at a car show. And I don't get that. Compare the new Kramers to CURRENT guitars on the market. NOT vintage Kramers.

Having said that I have PLENTY of both new and vintage Kramer guitars. But what do I use every night live? Two Pacer Classics. They are the most efficient guitar for me. I just recently attained a candy red SM-1 which I'll start taking out as a backup as opposed to two PC's.

Well, if you basically make a copy, it •should• be identical. Gibson and Fender have no problems doing it, just an example. It's not rocket science to make an exact copy of Baretta or Imp, machines could make absolutely identical copies regarding shape, neck profile etc.

Sorry its off topic, but I love the pic in your sig, DS. I also own the least desirable mustang in the world, 1994 gt convertable. So, while people may like the vintage cars better than yours (which is my fav body style) at least you don't get laughed at like me.

While this is true, we know that no one would lay down the dough for such a guitar if it would be a Kramer instead of a Strat or a Lester shrug .
