So this was too cheap to pass up, the necks on these Baretta Specials are superb, this one has been holoflashed & had a Floyd Rose II fitted, I've now swapped that for an 80's OFR, plays real great & the stock pup isn't too bad & can be eq'd to sound good, maybe a JB will find its way in for the future :mrgreen

I thought it wasn't going to intonate at first but managed to get it spot on but only just, E & B saddles hanging right over the baseplate :yikes

Kinda 80's cool tho' for no money, don't ya think :thumbs

Looks good :thumbs

Just wondering, who paid several hundreds for holoflashing a $150 guitar? Or did you do it yourself?

Wel, I got this from the "Barettacollector" Carl, he did the holoflashing himself then it was hung on his wall, then it moved home to another collector who hung it on his wall, then it came back to Carl in some kinda trade deal, then I made him an offer cos I thought it would make a cool axe to gig with!

The locking nut was mounted on top of a wedge of wood added to the headstock to make a shelf for it to sit on!

Couple threads on old KF about this as well. I put a lock nut on one of these necks, top mount. Almost 5 yrs, still solid! :thumbs

So I put a Floyd Rose on my Baretta Special yesterday and was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was. It only required removing about 3/16" of material to lengthen the bottom of existing trem cut out to make room for the Floyd arm mount and a bit of modification at the nut to level the area, shim and install the locking nut. Other than that, it was just drill and install the Floyd posts and shim the neck up about 1/16".

While it is certainly not at the level of a "true" 85 Baretta, the $179.00 Baretta Special is still a solid, smooth playing guitar that can be easily upgraded with a $85.00 FRS to give it a bit more of that 1980's Kramer metal magic.
