I'd be leaning towards Maple shrug

My LK1BF was heavy as hell. Really dark tone to it but once I got the right pickup in it, it sounded great. We always thought mine was maple, but I'm not sure.

I had the same model, only recently let it go, again heavy as hell & yeah a kinda dark tone with the original pup, I'm 95% sure it was maple!

I have a LK1BF and it's a good weight, brochures on VK state Poplar. 8lb 2oz or 3.7kg for the whole guitar on my scale

4lb 10oz or 2.1kg this JK body weighs

csaba at least with one of my focci, as i sanded around the edges it became obvious there was a veneer cap on the top and bottom of the guitar. Just wondering if you noticed anything like that?
My focus 1000 had 4 joined pieces so my guess is they placed a cap to prevent a visible seam from showing through the finish. (Definitely seems like a preventive measure)

The color doesn't match nato after being sanded off, no idea what it may be. The veneer looks like alder in that pic.

Anyway, there goes your natural finish... such a pity.

If it is a veneer, which hasn't been established, go for the CAR or a burst....

It's a very small pic, dunno if it's veneer or if the edges are still with finish on? At first it seemed like two different wood colors on my screen.

csaba, try tinypic.com for the pictures, so we can see them in bigger. These small ones are quite useless.
