I have an 86 F2000 and the R2 nut sits exactly the same as that. Plays fine, but it bugs the shit out of me to look at it. Would an R5 nut sit in there the same just wider? I love the idea, especially since I think every other Kramer I have is also R2, would be cool to have one that is slightly wider.

Sure looks like it is narrow in that neck. Do you have an R5 nut laying around?

Also- What do you mean by cut the legs off the base plate?

Nice score by the way.....

The nut measures 41mm, which should be a R2.

As far as the legs off the base plate, I have a 1978 Ibanez Musician. The pickups come from the factory epoxied into the pickup cover. You can get replacement covers, but the legs ahve to be cut off the base plate so that the replacement pickup can fit into the caity.

R5 won't fit there, it's way too wide and also has a wider string spacing. No workie.

Maybe an R3 would work (~1mm wider then R2), but then you'd have to file the nut shelf deeper since R3 is quite a bit higher.

Maybe a Gotoh R3 could work, but you'd have to adjust one of the holes due to different hole spacing - also a bit tricky.

Is the current nut sitting in the middle or is it maybe a bit off towards the thin e? That could be plugged and re-drilled then, if that's the problem.

The bottom plate switch is an easy job, here you go:

The nut only seems to be "short" on the low E side. Otherwise, everything lines up great, no issues with playing

R3 is 1mm wider on the low E side, so the width should fit. But as said, it's much higher and you'd have to shave some wood off the nut shelf to make it work. I'd just leave it as-is.

It looks wide but it's only the way the upturn is cut. Most don't have the much shelf exposed.
