I hope you´ll let us hear something from the studio work.

Well Christian, after some more detective work (consulting with Vinny), it would appear that this cannot be a prototype as they were all light bodies & would have a serial number, this is a heavy chunk of maple & there's no serial number on the plate :nono
Best guess is..........it was built from all the correct parts in the custom shop at the time by Billy Conelly but never officially sold by Kramer :nono So that makes it kinda a back door "Bootleg" Grail :roll
Whatever, it's a cool axe for the collection & is certainly the closest thing to a "Grail" without officially being one shrug

Here's a couple of pics of the Retta from the provenance timeline of ownership, these are from when Alex Rigg owned it, as you can see it still had a partial headstock decal at the time!

On the right obviously!

Congrats. Grails are hard to come by and should be coveted. I owned one briefly, but not a fan of one pup guitars. I always thought that the string retainer location was strange, but I understand why they did it. The droopy headstock makes the string spacing wider, so it had to be close to the nut. Regardless, they are purrrrty guitars. Can't believe that you got another one from the Baretta Collector.

I think most of us would def love to own it so consider yourself lucky or blessed or both.
I sure as hell would've taken it to the studio and laid down some tracks with it. Congrats on a fine purchase.
