Hardware and neck plates apparently do not need to match. I've seen a bunch of factory Kramers where they do not. I own a Classic II that is completely stock except for different pup, and it has gold hardware but the neck plate is black (I cannot remember if it is E or F series) - actually maybe the neck plate is chrome, I cannot remember, but I know it is not gold on the neck plate. I also have an E series PCI where the hardware is all black but the neck plate is chrome.

I don't think there are many gold neck plates out there, almost always chrome or black for E, F and G series. I've got a gold E series one that I bought off Fleabay a little while ago that I got for a fair price after the original auction winner flaked, but it was replated from a chrome one - not OEM from Kramer. And George Felise on fb said that Kramer made a few of them at one point for custom orders or something like that.

Truss rod covers shouldn't be to hard - easy to make, and also I'm thinking if you already have a regular one and you can't stand it being upside down, you could probably just strip off the logo and then buff out the plastic a little bit if you wanted - buy one cheap with the logo already half flaked off, and half your work is already done.

here is a qoute from the man himself who did most the kramer painting and assembly, except for the esp necks, was talkin to"George Felise" last night on Facebook and this was his direct qoute!! the absolute truth from one of the main guys at kramer.

George Felise ---As long as he's not looking for an exacting date, then it's close enough. Believe me when l tell you though, with all due respect regardless of the amount of years you've been researching ...there tens of thousands out there. Numbers Necks & Decals are all over the place from us at the factory AND guys building them from parts. You have a better chance of seeing Mother Theresa's Ghost Deep Throating Axel Rose than you do of pinpointing a Kramer production date down to anywhere within 3 months.
George Felise-- Even if it's written on the frickin hang tag...
(he was respondin to some guy who was telling me exact dates and hardware and logo's )

pretty cool dude ,help me to get close as possible with neck and plate.--after readin what he had to say, im all good with my low e plate from wizball.

Image

early 86 and 2500 too 8700,big gap considering, but as he said they just grab whatever, whenevr for whatever.

Not sure what number you got from Dave, but I've got one or two mid-range numbered E series plates in chrome if you wanted to trade, I'd be happy to do it. I'm sitting on a NOS banana neck that I will build out at some point, and I wouldn't mind having a lower number E plate to use for that when the time comes.
Lemme know if any interest, and I can check the specific number or numbers I have when I get home. No worries if you are happy with what you have, all good either way.
