NGD Purple Duke Guitar

Post by ncelectric » Thu Nov 12, 2020 11:34 am

A few days ago about 3 or 4 awesome USA Kramers popped up on GC website. One was a Floyd Rose Sig, another was an early Voyager maple beak, and then this Duke guitar. I had to grab the Duke, I’ve always wanted one for travel purposes and this doesn’t disappoint. A light cleaning and new strings and it rocks! Does anyone else have a Duke guitar on here?

Don't know if I'd ever be able to get used to no headstock..... shrug
But let's face it, someone buys a Kramer b/c it has a Floyd.

Love it! Damn you keep scoring!

Most faded melaga purple ever? Mmm, maybe...

BTW, you've missed out if you've never heard George Felise tell the story of his Greek co-worker at Kramer who was in charge of painting all the purple guitars, reportedly always chain-smoking while spraying the highly flammable paints. So as the story goes, inevitably, one day G hears a commotion and turns around to see the dude with his whole arm on fire. Then IIRC, dude tamps out the flames like no big deal, lights another ciggy and keeps on painting - or something to that effect.

Awesome story! I personally love the fade of this finish. Some look splotchy, but each one is truly unique! On my Duke, it is like a thick stripe down the middle is less faded than the rest.

That Duke guitar is gorgeous. I have only seen one lefty Duke guitar ever and did not buy it when I had the chance.

How does it play?
Excellent cost performance is a strong friend of a left-handed guitarist!

After giving it a proper setup, still need to intonate, but it is awesome. I really enjoy the ebenol fretboard much more than I thought I would. The headlessness is a bit to get used to, but I dig it.

Same. One of the reasons I like lumies so much.
