I believe I have an early 80's Pacer but it deviates from what I see out there. Is it a mutt? Was this thing modified or is it original? The Kramer logo was sanded off of the headstock and I think the whole neck was sanded down.

I appreciate any help in identifying this guitar.

I just don't know anyone that thinks their extortionist pricing is worth the value.... :dollar :dollar

For now here is what we recommend.

The neck, body, plate & hardware look original.
The pickguard, hb, neck & middle singles look to have been changed out.

Yep. From the serial# and body shape it looks to be an early 1983 Pacer Deluxe (neck looks awesome as broken in as it is). The bridge pup should be a Schaller then, not an SD like it seems to be, bc the switch to SD came later.

What do you mean by "neck seems sanded down"? Like in "ruined" or just like "smoother"?

Looks like someone sanded off the lacquer and oiled the neck.

The neck feels great and is smooth, there's no finish on it. I assume someone sanded it and removed it, along with the logo (sadly). The thing plays great and keeps me from buying a strat because it meets my needs. The fret board needs to be cleaned but otherwise it's in good cosmetic shape. Previous owner putKnob-ease on it and I seemed to have lost one. I'm hoping I can find it in one of my gear bins. If not, they are reproducing them but they do look different. I kind of fell in love with them naturally from doing volume swells on this thing. I can't get this guitar to go out of tune which I love. I can whammy the strings until they go completely slack and still be in tune. I love it. I've had the guitar since around 2001-2002... I'm kind of rediscovering it as I moved on to other guitars. I don't think I'll ever give this one up. It outplays its monetary value for sure IMO.

I really appreciate you guys having a look at it and helping me identify it. It's great that there is a resource out there like this because Kramer was very inconsistent back in the day....

Now I need to look under the pick guard and identify which SD pickups are in it. The neck and middle pickup aren't anything special but the bridge pickup sounds great...
