Baretta Id and Legitimacy

Post by EastVanHalen » Fri Jul 16, 2021 2:39 pm

Hi Kramer forum gang - looking for opinions on the legitimacy of this '1986 Baretta' for sale near me.

Serial is F0232. Body looks off to me but I do not possess the trained eyes of members here.

Custom paint job obviously.

Pretty sure that’s a legit Baretta II. :thumbs

I have an 87 B2 and other that that questionable paint job, they are the same.

Yup. I confirm. As discussed before. Looks like a legit B2. Paint job is custom.

Thanks for the link to the earlier forum post! I knew I could get help here.

I am the original owner of an '85 Baretta that I kept all these years ... I have other guitars, but I still play the Kramer a lot. They're magic, man!

My '85 has a serial # D2309. I'll post pictures below. Spoiler: I destroyed any resale / vintage value by putting a neck humbucker in and a tone control. No regerts!

My lovely '85 Baretta ...

You know when you are a broke ass teenager and you can only own 1 guitar? Mostly because you spent ALL your money on this awesome Kramer? Yeah well the one pickup thing was starting to get limiting so - I put in a neck pickup and a tone pot. Oh well, I would never sell this guitar anyways! Hope you guys dig it.

At least it wasn't a 1984 Baretta.
If you never plan on selling it. Then do what you want and enjoy it.

But let's face it, someone buys a Kramer b/c it has a Floyd.

I've got an '85 that had an added tone pot and switch as well. shrug
Pretty much begged the previous owner not to do it back in the 80s. Told him to buy a Pacer and leave the Baretta alone. He eventually wanted weed more than a guitar so I've had it since May '89. I don't even use the tone or switch, hardly use the volume either, it's always cranked. :mrgreen

My critique of this guitar stands. Dynamite paint job. :roll

Nothing truly matters if you enjoy playing it.
