Alright, just checked mine and they are indeed 6-hole, not 4...

Drilling is easy with those, but make sure to use the flat drill tips as used for wood, not the regular beveled ones.

The real ones have a chunky backing bit to the hole area to keep it from cracking. if you drill you're sure to cause some cracking.

Not really if you're careful, because the springs will support the plastic on one side. As long as you're not pressing down on the pickups it is fine...
