So, some of you may remember from the old forum, I acquired this CAR Retta off Tony a couple of years back! I tried to authenticate the story of it once belonging to Mr Scary himself but alas was unsuccessful shrug

Anyways it's always been a real great player, infact I'd go as far to say "my best player" but she's sure is beat to hell, homemade trem recess (why shrug ), loads & I mean loads of dings around the body, a repaired broken headstock (no refin) & a sanded rear of a Tranny neck which feels oh so nice in the hand but has gotten real dirty with the passage of time! So with no authentication of it's provenance I've decided to give it a complete overhaul!

This is her before I start!

So the plan is to have the trem route filled & the body refinished in gloss black to compliment the maple board Tranny neck (truly a rare find) I've scored for her drool

The neck has an issue with a Swiss cheese heel & has obviously been on a few guitars previously but it was ridiculously cheap :thumbs

So the body has been completely stripped & dropped off at my mate's, who's gonna do the repair & refin!

The neck has now had a good clean, frets polished (there is a bit of wear on them but nothing that requires a dress just yet), heel holes filled, hardware fitted.

It's a genuine Tranny neck but has the later block American scripted logo, there must have been some cos this is deffo a factory finish, just not seen one before :nono

Anyhow that's all for now & it may be some time until I'm able to post the next chapter cos my mate doesn't rush his work :thumbs

Nice work there sir, always nice to see Kramers brought back to the beauties they are! :headbang

Just for my info., when you doweled the heel what type of
adhesive did you use, if any....just curious. Can't wait to see the finished product, as I'm sure you are too. :toast

Is the maple board separate (like a rosewood tranny) or is it like a one piece neck?

I don't like how you filled the holes to be honest... those should be doveled properly with wooden dovels.

Other than that it looks nice though :thumbs

I know what you mean about the dowels, I couldn't be bothered to make some dowels :roll So used this wood filler instead, it's a hard as nails & won't be a problem to redrill when the time comes! Looks shite in the pic but in the flesh it's all flat & even :thumbs
