We'll see how much of a rescue it is, but here it goes:

Can´t see anything on that neck that needed to be rescued scratch_head . Looks clean as a whistle. Only one set of holes on the heel. Frets at least in the higher registers are in great shape too. Only lacks the "Patent Pending" block logo. This is (from the looks) as good as it gets.

Best of luck with the auction :thumbs , Sergej!

Hopefully there are frets in the lower register, no pics of them & a blurry pic of the back of the neck. scratch_head
GL with the auction.

I won it :) And yeah, that's what I meant - don't know if it's a rescue or good to go with a new body. This is the exact kind of beak I've been looking for. Now I just need a body + neckplate...

The frets are all there and he says they look very good and it's all straight. I can refret it if needed. I'm more weary about those scratches at the back of the neck though, might need to be sanded off in the worst case.

Ok, the fitting body is found:

Neckplate included and I hope to get the pickguard too. It will be a nice mutt :headbang I got both black and nickel/chrome floyds here, we'll see which looks better. I guess it'll be nickel/chrome though, I'm not a fan of black hardware.

And I got the pickguard too :) Just checked my parts box and now I'm all set, it gets a DiMarzio Norton in the bridge and two Fender single coils, with chrome Schaller locking tuners and a nickel Schaller Lockmeister.

Can't wait :jump

EDIT: he just wrote that he'll include the trem posts, screws etc. too... good deal!

I am sure that you already know this trick Serge- but this is an excellent place to put this bit-o-knowledge for those that might not.

Lightly sand the entire backside of the neck to remove the finish and/or years of body oils (and who knows what else).

Take a damp clothe and a HOT iron, starting at the shallowest sides of the dings. Apply the iron to the clothe in short 5-10 second bursts. Most importantly- this trick is done best over the period of a week or so, because you do not want the entire neck to start absorbing water. Just the dented areas.

I have found I can get all small bumps and bruises and MOST of the major dings to lift out of Maple using this trick. My only word of caution is to not let the neck itself start absorb water.

When this is done, you can then start working up the super fine sandpaper scale- moving on to steel wool. Of course you finish out at 0000 on the wool side.

Last- apply Johnson's Paste Wax with a fine cloth. This will seal the back of the neck back up to prevent it from wanting to absorb moisture/sweat and will also be FAST to play.

Thanks Tony, will certainly try some of those tricks as needed. A refinish is an option too if the scratches turn out being too nasty (I mean real scratches in the clear, not dents).
