Has anyone ever compared the Kramer Classic I vs the Focus Classic? These are the traditional strats Kramer made. You really don’t see too many of either model come to the market, but my focus Classic is a sweet player. Anybody?

I am mostly referring to neck and body shape, frets, playability. I know the electronics should be different.

The important difference in general is tonewood vs. "some wood", the rest is less relevant. "Some wood" will give you less high end, less powerful basic unplugged tone and weaker harmonics. Not a huge difference but it's audible if you're used to high-end axes. They both play great and with good pups the Focus will sound almost as good through the amp. The audience won't hear the difference either way.

Dunno about this exact model but Foci usually had a bit thinner profiled necks and flatter radius, also the finish was not as thick and "glassy" as on the Pacers. Clear on the neck was not heavily amber tinted like the US models and has a bit more sticky feel, but that's easy to solve (sand, wax, polish, or maybe use shellac if you like the feel).

Looks like pretty nice tonewood here to me ;)
My main guitar is a Grosh Retroclassic Custom, so my standard is pretty high for comparison’s sake. The focus Classic is a different guitar and cannot truly compare to the Grosh, but I’ve played my fair share of Kramers and most older focci are somewhat comparable to their American counterparts.

^^Looks-wise, that is some beautiful grain, Trey. (I hope I remembered your name correctly) I have seen many an American Fender that pales in comparison with that of your Classic. -Steve

Here you guys go. Name is Clay, but Trey is close! These are old photos, but it’s loaded with a set of Don Grosh single coils.

No excuses, Sir! Thanks for setting me straight.

Guitar Center had a used one pop up months ago, but I wasn't clear if it was a Focus version or not. Your's is a fine example regardless.

Kramer has plenty of strange. We have the Kramer Classic I strat and these Focus classics...these were made 86 and beyond so they were ESP bodies and necks (correct me if I’m wrong) but ESP also had their traditional series guitar line out around the same time the 400 series. Any way these were all the same parts getting used?
