Mystery Guitar.
Just bought this guitar. It should get here in a week.
A Charvel San Dimas KLINE??? WTF?

I am 100% positive this is a Charvel body. Rear and front routing.
I am pretty sure the art is real Kline 1989 see pics.
The neck looks to be the correct era, with rear mount Floyd Rose nut. Holes in neck.
It has an Original Floyd.

I won't know till I get it.
If it is real, it will be awesome.

I'm not a Charvel expert, but did they build them with birdseye maple? It was usually quartersown I think. Maybe an aftermarket neck?

Looks nice either way though :thumbs

The more I look at it. The more I think it is possibly a mutt.
A nice looking mutt, with some nice parts.

If the art work is confirmed to be real Kline art work from 1989.
Than I believe this guitar may be a 1987/88 Charvel model 2. These years the Charvel model 2 had that Jackson JT6 style Tremolo styled like a Floyd Rose. The post spacing was the same as a real Floyd Rose. Could also be San Dimas body.
The posts will tell me. Brass inserts should mean JT6 and = Model 2. FR screws could indicate San Dimas body.
This model 2 would have had black, Jackson logo, tuning machines on the Charvel/Jackson pointy head stock neck. I think someone swapped the pointy neck for this one. This would also explain the lack of a correct Charvel neck plate.
I think the current neck may well be after market. I cannot find many examples of 22 fret Charvel necks, with a head stock truss rod access, and rounded fret board at the body. Anything is possible from Charvel though.
It also looks way too new. But then again the body looks great.

I think that someone in the past sent this body to Kline to be painted. Obviously this was painted in 1989.

I cant wait to inspect it. Hopefully there will be more clues to the history of this guitar.

Even if it is a parts mutt. A Charvel body with artwork painted by Kline has got to be rare.

I usually associate Charvel necks with a square fretboard end more of a curve into the ball on the headstock and a body end truss rod adjust.

send a picture of it to Dennis on facebook, and he'll tell you if he painted it or not. He might know more info on it, as well.

The 12th fret inlays would be closer together on a Charvel neck. Still looks like a cool guitar with a story.
