Hi folks. I am considering a Kramerish Tele build and I might try a reverse pointy. Whattaya think and are there some examples? -Steve B

We recently had a thread with several nice examples shown, maybe some of those will inspire you...

Opinions are like a$$holes (everybody has one), and this is just mine, but I prefer a more traditional type headstock with the Tele body. My Classic II Tele has a beak, even though it is an '88 or '89 factory build, and I really like the looks. My Ferrington Tele has almost an identical body, but it has a color-matched pointy HS, and I actually like it much less. But that's just me.

John 5 has some radically-styled Teles including metal flake, LED lighted bodies, and even a fluorescent "lava lamp" guitar, but he seems to favor classic style headstocks, as well.

But following one's muse and being different certainly can lead to a winning result, so do whatever makes you feel inspired! Sometimes I will sketch something out with pencil or "build" it in photoshop and then sit with the finished product for a while to see if I still like it.

My friend has a few NOS Kramer Classic II bodies that we want to build at some point, and I'm toying with the idea of a reverse beak for one of them just to be different. We'll see.

Your builds are always practical and fun to watch them unfold, so I'm sure it will be cool regardless of what you choose. I, too, would love to see some examples of pointy HS Teles if they are out there. I agree the one that SixString posted on that other thread with the holoflash body and the maple neck pointy HS is a bombshell - love that one!!

^ another sweet one!
Love that bound neck in combination with the look of the body. OK, so maybe I am rethinking my perspective...

Thanks for your input and the compliment, Doc. I think sketching is a great idea. I have no earthly idea what paint scheme I would like, but at least I can compare head stock looks and come to a conclusion soon..The holo-ed Tele is sweet and also Tony's bounded flamer and I really like Mars' black pointy.
If I do go with a pointy it will me floyded.

Agreed. I am gradually shifting the bucket there as well.
