I think I just scored a great GRAIL DEAL. Some might already know that I am selling all of my Baretta's and F1000's. I like them, just not as much as my Nightswan, Sustainer, and ProAxe. I might have to keep this one though. I just bought a 1984 Baretta C serial #, GRAIL in black for $750.00.
SCORE!!!
I cant wait to get it and get it cleaned up, setup, polished up, and rocking. Should be about 3-4 days. Here are some before pic's.

I have seen some 1984's sell for around $2000.00. I think I did well.
The seller said he was going to reinstall the original Schaller pickup and that the Duncan was not included. Great news.

Nice one, I saw that, same guy who put up that sweet trans red 83 Imp for sale.
George Felise and some of the guys on the fb groups always seem enthused to share information and their perspectives whenever somebody posts about a grail. They might be able to help round out the history of yours, might be interesting to know if you are planning to flip it, or even if you're not.
Sweet axe though, I sure would be happy to own it!

Sorry. I was confused. I thought 83-85 Banana's were considered Grails. I did not know that term was exclusive for the Non-angled Banana head stock on 1983 models.
Now I Know.
Still a grail to me though. My first electric guitar was a 1985 Kramer Striker 100st in black with the non-angled banana head stock, and non locking Floyd Rose. It was my Red Rider BB Gun. I still have this guitar. I will never sell it. That guitar meant a lot to me. That was my main guitar through a lot of high school era bands. Remember those. LOL.
Later, around 1989, I bought a used 86 Baretta Kline. I liked the pointy head stocks. Still do. Then my first Nightswan kind of took over.
This is the first Baretta Banana I will probably keep, and play.
My 85 Baretta guitar art is a collectors piece. I am selling it, so I do not feel comfortable playing it.

We need more room/characters to post in the signature area. LOL. I am running out of room. I might need a Kramer intervention. HA!

It looks like someone changed out the trem arm coupling. I think it is supposed to have the Old Style with the threaded tremolo arm.
Can someone confirm this? Thanks.

^ I believe so, yes. I have a late '83 C series Deluxe with the Sports maple body, and indeed it has the old style coupling on the OFR. Also that '83 red Imp just offered by your same seller also had old style coupling.

That's a cool sentiment, and I can totally relate. My first "real" guitar was an 84 Focus 1000 in black with the banana headstock. It was my grail and I loved that thing, even though at that time, Focus models were not yet appreciated and were considered sub-par by most guitar snobs, but along with one of those hot little Gallien Krueger stereo amps, I never needed anything else for years. Before I went back to grad school in '92, I sold them both I think for $150 to buy books.
shrug

Come to think of it, the OFR on that 84 Focus also had old style arm coupling.

There are guys on here who know way more about the history than me, but I think your theory of swapped coupling (or maybe whole bridge swapped out) seems likely.
