Those "special" necks are pretty good, feel great in the hand, good decision :thumbs

Not much visual progress this weekend. I drilled the hole for the jack and finished sanded the raw wood, then gave it three coats of Sand and Seal. I'll sand her up good tomorrow. I am currently waiting for the neck and the rest off the hardware to arrive so I can fine tune the pocket and drill for the bridge and tailpiece stud bushings.

".......the waiting is the hardest part"

I grabbed a Kramer Baretta Special neck off Ebay this AM for a great price.

Excellent! I was thinking that seemed like the best option. I think it's gonna look great with that neck and headstock, and people really seem to like the feel of these necks - wish I had an opportunity to try one out.

Spent Saturday afternoon fine tuning the neck pocket and drilling for the bridge and stop tail post bushings:

Then worked on repairing the headstock where the prior owner had mounted a Kahler string lock after the nut. Once this filer set up, I sanded it all down and sealed the raw wood. I hated to sand off the original Kramer logo, but this Birdretta is going to be white with gold hardware and get a pyramid logo like Mick Mars' white Dr. Feelgood era tele.

This morning I wet sanded the sealer, cleaned and prepped the headstock and hit it with a coat of primer.

.....and yesterday my son showed up at my shop door with a sketch of the guitar he wants me to build for him, so here is the template for MarsMountain Guitars serial number 002:

Man, you got a lot done... looking GREAT!
Good choice for colors... I love the look of gold on white (also reminds me of Randy Rhodes style).
Also that template for MMG #2 is pretty catchy looking - you're on a roll!

Looks great :thumbs

I am a bit worried about the access to those last 3-4 frets though, if you care about that to begin with. If it was for me, I'd make a deeper cut like on that V (which looks badass BTW).

The V body does look kool!! :headbang
Could always “scoop” the horn a bit if needed, might look good! shrug
