Glued up two sets of maple blanks this morning to make a "production run" of V - bodies. One for my son (who came up with the design) and one for me. At this point, I'm thinking of trying a stained finish on this one - similar to the 58 korina look.

Hey Mars these look great, any chance u making any more??

Like a lefty without the notch at the neck, with a slant hum with floyd routing in alder or maple??

Seriously wld like one to mate to my 86 focus 1000 neck in white with all black hard ware, got serious chills just thinking about it!!!

Can't hurt to ask? Regardless looks pretty pumping man

Thank you for your kind words and faith in my building ability. I would love to eventually build a few bodies to sell, but since this is only #2 and #3 from MarsMountain Guitars, lets see how they turn out and then see if you are still interested.

Here are the two maple bodies I cut this weekend. The notched one will be painted and the other will be stained like a 58 korina.

Here is my son's "Infected" V with a coat of primer. This is his personal design derived from one of the guitars used by Matthew Greywolf of the band Powerwolf. My son did all the wood carving on the body and I think the idea to bring the infected areas around and over the edges really gives the body added dimension. He is doing really well with this build and I couldn't be prouder. It will get one cream colored P-90 in the bridge and his plan is to finish it in gloss metallic bronze with matte black infected areas.

Wonderful creativity on display. I am impressed with not only the design and craftsmanship, but also the photos. I find my poor craftsmanship matched by shoddy camera work.

Thanks for the shares.

Yeah man, those just keep getting better and better.
I actually prefer your son's over the original, assuming this was the one that he used for inspiration.

So here is #002 from MarsMountain Guitars. Single P90 string through Flying V loosely based on one of the guitars used by Powerwolf's Matthew Greywolf. My son came up with the body shape idea, the carved top design, hardware selection and did a good 50% of the work on this one - every step of the process - from the wood shop to paint shop to the assembly and wiring. We both learned a lot on this build and shared some laughs, some frustrations and plenty of good quality father and son time. I am very proud of the effort and work he put into this. And it will be great to watch him progress as a guitar player on an instrument he helped build.

Now if I could just get him into Motley Crue………...

Great job. Very cool.
Interesting choice in the P90.
One day I will start a JR inspired build with a single P-rail, split with a 3 way switch.
