That´s what "separates the mans from the boys". One of the most simple/plain/cheap guitar models/shapes ever made. Straight in the amp with little in the way of effects ...

... and still ripping and recognizable. I will never be a big fan of GL and Dokken but he is a monster player :headbang .

He seems a tad sloppy these days with the phazer an all...hell he's in his early 60's....62 maybe...will always be my go to guy...met him quite a few times on the strip in the late 80's; and he was hit and miss....big mits on 'em! Huge hands and the pinky seemed longer than the ring finger....and what a stretch he had...might have helped out there. Took full advantage. I'll always dig that dude...In My Dreams video blew me away...try that stretch at the end of the solo...I saw so many hammering it on....that's not he played it.
Always said he didn't know theory...doubt that...top of his game, here.

Thanks, guys... those vids are great!
I'd love to know what he's got in that LP Jr... mine sure doesn't sound like that! Although it might be explained mostly by the truth of Kickstart's quote "practice cures most tone issues."

Looks like the stock Gibson pup... more probably the difference is in the amp, FX, mixing etc. To my ears it's just the usual soapbar tone, so I guess you just need a better amp :)

I won't comment his playing though, the guys here know my opinion quite well...

I used that video to create an EQ'd Impulse response for the Atomic Amplifire. It was pretty much an exact match, create for playing over some backing tracks, but a little hard on the ears playing without.
