It´s sad that such a talented guy like Casey completely walked away from music.

Ya know, I don't think he's walked away completely, just out of the limelight, there was a little activity earlier this year, so who knows shrug

Yep. He closed his old FB presence too last year or the end of 2015.

Just to be clear, I know I do not have 1/16th of the ability of Mr. Jones on the guitar.

But I did spend the majority of the early 90's traveling the east coast in a band trying to make it. We played clubs and bars and whatever gigs we could land. There was hardly ever any money, we were always on the road and either slept in a mobile home or some horrible dive motel. And I struggled to pay even the smallest bills.

We were likely just a mediocre band that never had a prayer anyway, but I what I learned from that experience is that "making it" has a lot more to do with pure luck, connections and being at the right place at the right time than being a phenomenal musician (I humbly point to grunge bands to make my point) (and yes I know that is relative and only my bad/un-wanted opinion).

Once I realized it would only ever be a dream, I got a day job, dedicated myself to it and have become quite successful (if I do say so myself). I really have no idea what his situation is, but maybe Mr. Jones ended up coming to the same conclusion. He is an amazing guitar player and way better than I could ever hope to be, but if you can't pay your bills, having all the musical talent in the world makes no difference. I hope he still makes music a large part of his life, because if he didn't, it would be such a massive waste of incredibly awesome talent.

Nothing to add here. Everything you say is absolutely true but this ...

... is the cross roads. I´ve been there too and made the same turn you took. Best decision for sure. Unfortunately there´s a lot of people taking the wrong turn - some live happily ever after with that decision, Some, not so much.

Also totally agree with what's been said!

I was also in a similar position way back & also made the decision to concentrate on my "day job" career as opposed to professional muso & it's has successfully paid the bills over the years with quite a bit of disposable income to boot :thumbs I have my "hobby" band & we gig regularly, don't make much money but it covers the up keep of my gear & we all enjoy what we do :headbang

Just hope that Casey can do something similar & not walk away completely, would be such a waste shrug

Yep, been there as well.
The day job pays the bills, the hobby band keeps me sane!!
We do a few fund raiser/charity stuff during the year, just the stage time is enough.
