I like dropping down to D for songs like lay it down, but would like to be able to get back up to standard without swapping guitars, does the D tuna work? does it work with licensed floyds?

also, does it only work if the tremolo is blocked?

The trem has to be blocked or flush mount.
Dropping the E to D causes the other strings to go sharp.

It can be made to kinda work with a floyting setup, but then you need a strong tremsetter like this double-spring Ibanez part:

Or you can use two regular tremsetters. You have to set them really stiff and use heavier trem springs (like 3 Gotoh ones) to get the neutral point stable enough for the D-tuna to work. Using the floyd will of course require much more effort then.

A tremol-no will allow you to get in and out of a locked state in a quick turn of a thumb screw ( https://www.musiciansfriend.com/accesso ... mall-clamp )

That is how Stefano solved this problem. Pretty nifty. You can fit a spring in there to prevent it from making noise when it´s not engaged :headbang .

The only problem with it is that you have to be 100 per cent true with your screw holes bc there´s nothing to compensate failures.
