This was a tough one. I had this guitar in the corner for several years, the reason being that the vintage LP floyd I used on it got damaged (those filmsy tension setting screws broke off) and no regular bridge would fit due to strange spacing/positioning of the original bridge.

I found the way to repair the floyd easily - instead of using the long tension screws coming from the stoptail side (a complicated construction with a complex shaped screw, retainer plate, yadda yadda) I just drilled through the frame and used some metric 3mm Epi pickup screws coming from the bridge pickup side, which fit perfectly (you can see the screw heads in the last pic in front of the e/E saddles). Floyd Rose may be a genius, but actually this is how he should have constructed it instead of the contraption he used originally.

Anyway, after installing it back I added the trusty Kahler nut, a vintage Alnico II Pro and a Gibson 498T I had in my parts box, stringed it up and voilá - works ike a charm! Plays really well and the massive Floyd added a nice bit of high-end to compensate for the "not-really-tonewood" used for the body. Now it's a really nice player and sounds killer too, a bit of a LesPaul-ish character. Now it just needs a thorough cleaning and it's good to go. I'm happy I revived this, dunno why but I really like this axe although it's "only" the chinese version.
