A few years ago, I bought two of the last GKG RR-2s. Absolutely love them. I put some Dimarzios in the Violex.

The Meltdown one got some free custom work on the neck. It's slightly reshaped and hand oiled. They really went above and beyond for my 2nd order. Wish I had more money to throw at Leo and folks.

The GKs are very drool worthy. Were they set up nicely from day one?

They were both setup very well. When I ordered the meltdown one, I even asked if they would set it up tuned to Eb because I was lazy and they did. Great action.

Edit: I should also mention that I think the ebony boards have a little dye on them. The first few weeks of playing the violex, a little would rub off on my fingers.

Thanks! I love the Marshall too. Unfortunately, I don't get a chance very often to let her roar. I need to get off my butt and start a band.

I'm am no expert, but I believe most ebony blanks have a lighter appearance and the majority of manufacturers and builders choose to dye the board.

No expert here either. Could very well be. The others I've had just never dirtied my perfect little fingers before :)
